To achieve this vision, we are expanding our portfolio to encompass a diverse range of properties catering to the Northgate González Market customer and
the Mexican market.
Northgate González Real Estate is developing stores and grocery-anchored centers that enhance the Northgate brand while providing welcoming, dynamic destinations for the Mexican community. These properties include:
Free-standing Stores
To support the expansion of our grocery stores, food service and retail, we will additionally develop facilities for:
Our strategy includes building, developing, redeveloping, and/or acquiring rental housing in Northgate trade areas, along with special resident privileges at Northgate González Markets, Marque Medical, and Prospera González financial services that enhance the value of living in a Northgate community.
The mixed-used communities we develop, redevelop, and/or acquire will feature Northgate González Markets and restaurants, retail, housing as well as uses such as churches, hotels, and medical offices.
Northgate González Real Estate will develop medical buildings and facilities that serve Northgate González Market customers and communities in conjunction with the expansion of Northgate’s medical clinics. We will additionally build relationships with other healthcare providers to serve the needs of our communities.
The Mexican Community has been integral to the growth of Southern California and the success of Northgate González Market and Northgate González Real Estate.
Since opening the doors of their first grocery store in 1981, the González family has continued to serve the needs of Mexican community members who live, work, and raise their families across the region while retaining shared cultural ties, language, and values.
Building on that foundation, Northgate has continued to operate high-volume, full-service, successful supermarkets that provide a complete experience catered to Mexican customers. Now we are serving our communities even further as we branch out into a strategic mix of real estate markets and asset types in high-visibility, high-traffic locations central to fast-growing, thriving Mexican communities across Southern California and beyond.
Hispanic Market Growth
The Hispanic market represents one of the most dynamic retail investment opportunities in Southern California and in the U.S.
Mexican Population in the U.S.
Propelled by immigration, the Mexican consumer market has expanded rapidly over the last 50 years.
Impressive Buying Power
From 2010 to 2019, Mexicans' buying power increased 69% compared with 41% of non-Mexicans. Over the past 6 years in the USA, Mexicans accounted for 75% of all U.S. labor force growth. Their purchasing power is expected to reach $1.9 trillion by 2023.
Successful Retailers Understand the Importance of Traditions
Mexican consumers share deep-rooted traditions and enjoy celebrating seasons as well as important life moments—qualities that provide additional opportunities for investors who recognize, support, and enrich these traditions. These traditions include Cuaresma (Lent), Dia de Los Muertos, Candalavia, Dia de Reyes and more.
Dynamics Driving the Mexican Market
In developing our portfolio mix and identifying investment opportunities, Northgate González Real Estate remains focused on and aware of key dynamics that shape the consumer behaviors of the Mexican market.
Mexican Consumer Preferences
Northgate González Real Estate additionally understands and responds to the buying preferences and trends unique to the Mexican consumer, not just with our retail properties but with our financial services and medical facilities.
Community & Culture
Research tells us that 87% of U.S. Mexican consumers place a priority on staying connected to their culture and community. Providing products, services, and experiences that support this connection is central to the Northgate González Real Estate strategy.
Personalized Shopping Experience
89% of U.S. Mexican consumers say they prefer a personalized shopping experience tailored to individual needs and desires. Northgate and Northgate González Real Estate strive to deliver this experience at every touchpoint.
Trusted Brands
92% of U.S. Mexican consumers rate brand trust as essential to their purchasing decisions. Northgate has fostered trust and brand loyalty over the past 4+ decades by being an integral part of the communities we serve.
Retail & Grocery
Mexican consumers appreciate a quality shopping experience from retailers who understand the Mexican culture. Mexicans spend a large part of their income on food, clothing, and other personal items, and shop for groceries nearly three times as often as the general market. This loyalty and frequency have propelled the growth of our Northgate González Markets and will contribute to the success of all our projects.
Northgate Market is currently expanding in Los Angeles County, Orange County, San Diego County, and the Inland Empire. In addition to our grocery stores and shopping centers, we are looking for other real estate opportunities in the areas of commercial, medical, industrial, and multi-family housing.
We would love to hear from you if you know of a neighborhood that needs a Northgate Market shopping center. We are looking to expand to additional communities throughout Southern California and would appreciate your help to find the next perfect location for our
markets, shopping centers, industrial properties, and multi-family
housing projects.
